Nuestra experiencia con este artículo ha sido novedosa. Para quien ya haya manejado con anterioridad un aparato de este tipo, o que sea menos manazas que nosotros, seguramente le resultará chupado, pero nosotros, que nunca habíamos utilizado un secador de frutas y verduras, hemos tenido que leer las instrucciones un par de veces y revisar bien el aparato antes de empezar, aunque hay que decir que, al final, resulta muy intuitivo y no da problemas de ningún tipo. Al cabo de pocos minutos ya estábamos en condiciones de utilizarlo con toda confianza, porque es un aparato "amigable", ya a primera vista, que invita a pasarle la mano y a observar sus formas y su funcionamiento| su colorido alegre lo hace irrumpir en la cocina como un pequeño electrodoméstico "líder". Y es que su diseño es juvenil y desenfadado, está fabricado con buenos materiales y se sujeta a la perfección, con sus cuatro patas, en cualquier superficie plana (mesa, meseta de la cocina, mesa auxiliar, etc.). Consta de una base, seis bandejas normales, una bandeja específica para alimentos muy pequeños y la tapa. En la parte inferior del frontal tiene una pequeña pantalla en la que programar la temperatura y el tiempo, con los botones correspondientes, más el botón de encendido. Su peso no es inconveniente para moverlo, y, además, tiene un buen agarre, pero es obvio decir que no está concebido como instrumento portátil, y que lo mejor será adjudicarle un lugar propio en la cocina o en donde tengamos pensado darle uso.
Una vez peladas y cortadas las frutas (en este primer caso se trataba de manzana y nectarina) las hemos puesto en las bandejas, hemos enchufado el desecador, lo hemos encendido y hemos seleccionado la temperatura y el tiempo. El aparato comienza a funcionar prácticamente sin ruido alguno, solo un suave zumbido que no molesta. Como es lógico, e igual que si estuviéramos cocinando, el proceso evacua algunos olores que, evidentemente, no son en absoluto desagradables, sino que están en consonancia con el tipo de alimentos que hayamos puesto a desecar.
Si programamos una temperatura baja (la menor es de 40º) y unas seis horas, cuando el aparato se detiene y procedemos a comprobar cuál ha sido el resultado de su trabajo observaremos que los trozos (que en este caso habíamos cortado un poco gruesos) están a medio desecar y conservan parte de los aromas originales, aunque no la textura cruda. Este resultado será ideal para utilizar los trozos para hacer postres, un pastel, por ejemplo. Si, por el contrario, programamos una temperatura alta (la mayor es de 70º) y más tiempo (colocando trozos de frutas laminados y menos gruesos) obtendremos un producto tipo fruto seco, más o menos crujiente, que servirá para comer como aperitivo (sustitutivo de patatas fritas u otros productos que son mucho menos sanos) o bien para utilizar en un estupendo muesli casero, para mezclar con yogur, con café, leche o lo que queramos. Aún no lo hemos probado con otros alimentos, como verduras, carnes o pescados, pero la verdad es que, visto el resultado, promete, y esperamos de él muchos y muy buenos ratos culinarios.
Para acabar, hemos de añadir un dato más, y es que limpiar este desecador de alimentos es sumamente fácil. Las bandejas se desmontan con solo levantarlas con suavidad, lo mismo que la tapa, y se pueden lavar con nuestro lavavajillas habitual| la base se limpia con una bayeta y una vez todo seco, se recoge y listo para utilizar la próxima vez.
Por todo lo cual no dudo en recomendar su adquisición, porque será imposible no darle uso, y, además, está a un precio bastante atractivo.
Our experience with this article has been novel. For those who have used a device of this type before, or who are less handy than us, it will surely be a pain in the ass, but we, who had never used a fruit and vegetable dryer, have had to read the instructions a couple of times and review the device well before starting, although it must be said that, in the end, it is very intuitive and does not cause any kind of problem. After a few minutes we were able to use it with complete confidence, because it is a "friendly" device, already at first sight, which invites you to pass your hand and observe its shapes and operation| its cheerful coloring makes it break into the kitchen as a "leader" small appliance. And it is that its design is youthful and casual, it is made with good materials and it holds perfectly, with its four legs, on any flat surface (table, kitchen counter, side table, etc.). It consists of a base, six normal trays, a specific tray for very small foods and the lid. In the lower part of the front it has a small screen in which to program the temperature and time, with the corresponding buttons, plus the power button. Its weight is not inconvenient to move it, and, in addition, it has a good grip, but it is obvious to say that it is not designed as a portable instrument, and that it is best to assign it its own place in the kitchen or wherever we plan to use it. Once the fruits have been peeled and cut (in this first case it was apple and nectarine) we have put them on the trays, we have plugged in the desiccator, we have turned it on and we have selected the temperature and time. The device starts to work practically without any noise, just a soft hum that does not bother. As is logical, and just as if we were cooking, the process evacuates some odors that, obviously, are not unpleasant at all, but are in keeping with the type of food that we have dried. If we program a low temperature (the lowest is 40º) and about six hours, when the appliance stops and we proceed to check what has been the result of its work, we will observe that the pieces (which in this case we had cut a little thick) are half-dried and retain part of the original aromas, although not the raw texture. This result will be ideal to use the pieces to make desserts, a cake, for example. If, on the other hand, we program a high temperature (the highest is 70º) and more time (placing sliced and less thick pieces of fruit) we will obtain a more or less crunchy dried fruit type product, which will be used as an appetizer (as a substitute for of chips or other products that are much less healthy) or to use in a wonderful homemade muesli, to mix with yogurt, with coffee, milk or whatever we want. We have not yet tried it with other foods, such as vegetables, meat or fish, but the truth is that, given the result, it promises, and we expect many very good culinary moments from it. To finish, we have to add one more fact, and that is that cleaning this food desiccator is extremely easy. The trays are disassembled by simply lifting them gently, as is the lid, and they can be washed in our usual dishwasher| the base is cleaned with a cloth and once everything is dry, it is collected and ready to use next time. For all of which I do not hesitate to recommend its acquisition, because it will be impossible not to use it, and, in addition, it is at a very attractive price.
