A reverse osmosis system consists of several components that must be regularly maintained or replaced when needed to ensure optimal water quality. The most important replacement parts can be divided into several categories.
1. Filter cartridges and pre-filters: These typically include sediment filters and activated carbon filters that remove coarse particles, chlorine, odors, and organic impurities from the water. Depending on usage, they should be replaced every 6 to 12 months.
2. Membrane: The reverse osmosis membrane is the heart of the system and filters even the smallest contaminants such as nitrate, heavy metals, or pharmaceutical residues. It has a longer lifespan (2–5 years), but must also be checked regularly and replaced when performance declines.
3. Activated carbon post-filter: This so-called post-filter ensures the final purification step and improves the taste of the filtered water. It should also be replaced at regular intervals.
4. Seals and hose connections: To prevent leaks, it is important to replace seals, O-rings, or quick connectors when necessary. These small components are often the cause of leaks within the system.
5. Water tanks and faucets: Larger components such as pressure tanks or special RO faucets can also be replaced if they become leaky or no longer function properly.
The range of replacement parts is large, so it is always important to check which components are compatible with your specific filtration system. Original parts or certified alternatives provide the safest solution.
