The visual pleasure a fireplace offers is unquestionable; in fact, no other heating system can guarantee that feeling of warmth and intimacy turning every space into a cozy corner. Precisely for this reason, more and more people are opting for a bioethanol fireplace, taking advantage of the aesthetic and thermal benefits it offers, without the inconvenience and hassle caused by a traditional wood-burning fireplace.
Bioethanol fireplaces, like most heating systems do not require any prior installation, and in most cases, they are also portable; they can be used both indoors and outdoors when temperatures drop, and you intend to spend a pleasant evening outside. This translates into extreme ease of use, with many options to adapt to any space: with a wall-mounted bio-fireplace, you can save valuable space while creating a visual element of absolute appeal.
A bioethanol fireplace is, therefore, a good solution if you want to achieve warmth and charm at the same time. It is no coincidence that it establishes itself as a trend in recent years in terms of interior decoration. Read on to find out the main features of this innovative device, halfway between a heater and an interior decoration element. On Klarstein, you will find several proposals to give a new, exclusive touch of class to your home; don't miss our offers and get ready for a warm and elegant winter in the company of one of our bio-fireplaces.
Biofuel fireplaces are born as decorative fires, therefore with a relatively low heating value. Since this type of device's evolution, produced gradually with a higher calorific value, they have also started to be considered a heating solution. Especially for those who live in condominiums or flats without the necessary installations for the use of a fireplace, bioethanol burners offer a valid alternative to the pleasant sensation, both thermal and visual, offered by a fireplace, and thanks to their versatility, they can be used in any room. Bioethanol fireplaces do not need a draught or a smoke extractor, allowing total flexibility in choosing a model that adapts to any space.
There are currently a large number of products on the market, with different styles, from the most classic to more modern and minimalist lines: in terms of design, there are no limits, and in our online shop, you will find different models, from open flame bioethanol fireplaces with glass protection or totally closed bioethanol fireplaces where heat is released through the side or top openings. In this category, we can divide the models in the following variants:
Because of these devices' versatility, the choice of one type over another essentially depends on the space available and the kind of ambience you want to create. Obviously, since they are devices with an open flame, the use of easily flammable materials should be avoided. When installing recessed biofuel fireplaces, it is advisable to position them in an area free of electrical cables and far from the water pipes.
Who does not like to spend a nice and pleasant evening in front of a fireplace? Many people have this dream, but making it come true is not always easy when you live in a flat. Bioethanol or biofuel fireplaces have the main function of heating the environment. Still, in addition to this, they provide a charming and relaxing view, thanks to their crackling flames that catch the eye and create atmosphere. Beyond the aesthetic impact, compared to other room heating devices, what are the main advantages of a bioethanol stove? The list is long, but let's analyse them quickly in the table below.
On the other hand, before purchasing an ethanol fireplace, some other aspects must also be considered carefully, starting with the fuel price. Bioethanol is more expensive than oil, without considering that fossil fuels have been used for its production until now. In terms of efficiency, it should also be remembered that with such stoves, the heating power is limited to a single room, since it is difficult to warm an entire house. This makes bioethanol fires a good solution as a complementary source of heat to be added to the main heating system.
Besides not producing neither fumes nor ash, the combustion of bioethanol generates an easily perceivable odor: to solve this problem, as already said, it is a good idea to use some essence, which will act as an air freshener.

Biofuel fireplaces gained a lot of ground in recent years. There are two main reasons for this: they are presented as more sustainable, as they do not use fossil fuel, and they offer many possibilities for interior decoration. In fact, until recently, many people still considered these stoves as luxury objects. Bioethanol fireplaces heat the room just like traditional ones but stop emanating heat as soon as they are turned off.
Traditional fireplaces powered by coal or wood use fire-resistant elements that accumulate and radiate heat even after extinction. Bioethanol fireplaces or bio alcohol burners, unlike the previous ones, are made of steel, a material that has the property of not accumulating heat. This means that the combustion system heats up almost as quickly as it cools down. Rapid cooling is not a product of bio alcohol, but of the material that supports its combustion.
If you want the heat to accumulate, it is better to choose a bio-fireplace specifically designed for this purpose, built with suitable and refractory materials carrying the necessary properties for heat storage. Even in the case of a steel bio-fireplace, however, it is possible to increase the heat storage capacity by using accessories sold for this purpose; stones and ceramic logs can be placed around the burner so that it heats up during combustion and then continues to emit heat once the bio-fireplace is switched off.
Bioethanol is produced from large quantities of vegetables (biomass) which, when processed, allows the fermentation of sugars, producing this kind of alcohol. Its application as a fuel aims to reduce the use of oil derivatives such as petrol. Therefore, the kind of suitable vegetable to obtain it must be rich in sucrose, such as sugar cane, beet, sweet sorghum, etc.. In the case of the latter, ethanol is obtained by fermentation, or vegetables rich in starch, such as corn, potatoes or yucca, to which water and an enzyme are added to start the fermentation process.
Biofuel can also be obtained from cellulosic biomass such as wood or agricultural waste, where vegetables must be affected by enzymes to produce fermentation. After fermentation, only the purification phase remains, where the alcohol is separated from the water by distillation.
