Die Kühlleistung ist nicht sehr gut im Vergleich zu meinem Grainfather Gegenstrom-Kühler. Ein erster Test mit Wasser zeigte zwar, dass man zwar sehr schnell sehr viel Wasser (bzw. das zu kühlende Medium) durchlaufen lassen kann aber der Wärmeaustausch erstaunlich mager ist. Er kühlt zwar wie beschrieben in einem Durchlauf auf 20 Grad (knapp über Kühlwasser-Temperatur) runter, ich würde damit mindestens das doppelte an Kühlwasser brauchen gegenüber meinem anderen Kühler und am Ende muss die Durchfluss-Rate so drastisch reduziert werden, dass es länger als bisher dauert bis man fertig ist (unter 0,75 Liter pro Minute um von 70 auf 20 Grad Celsius runter zu kühlen). Die Schweiß-Nähte sehen auch nicht besonders schön aus und vor der ersten Nutzung muss der Kühler unbedingt gut gespült werden - bei mir kamen da noch reichlich Produktionsrückstände raus. Insgesamt eher enttäuschend auch wenn man bei dem Preis kein High-End erwarten kann.

The cooling performance is not very good compared to my Grainfather counterflow cooler. A first test with water showed that although a lot of water (or the medium to be cooled) can flow through very quickly, the heat exchange is surprisingly poor. As described, it cools down to 20 degrees in one pass (just above the cooling water temperature), I would need at least twice the cooling water compared to my other cooler and in the end the flow rate has to be reduced so drastically that it lasts longer than up until now it took a while to finish (less than 0.75 liters per minute to cool down from 70 to 20 degrees Celsius). The weld seams don't look particularly nice either, and before using the cooler for the first time, it is essential that it is rinsed well - I still had a lot of production residues out of it. Overall rather disappointing even if you can't expect high-end for the price.
