Discover Klarstein’s Fans & Cooling Fans to keep you fresh!

Every year, as summer approaches, it’s customary to see an exponential increase in the purchase of fans, cooling fans and electric fans to cope with higher temperatures. Therefore, the most practical and economical device to protect yourself from the heat inside your house, apartment or work office is certainly a fan. This appliance will make all the difference for just a few pounds, ensuring an immediate sensation of coolness thanks to its versatility.

There are many different types of fans and cooling fans on the market, from the most straightforward and cheapest models to those that combine high performance with a modern and innovative design, integrating perfectly into the decor of your home, such as stand fans, tower fans, ceiling fans and desk fans. Are you thinking about which model to choose, and which model is quieter and more elegant? On Klarstein you can choose from a wide selection of fans and cooling fans designed to meet your specific needs.

How does a Fan or Cooling Fan work?

Unlike air conditioning, ventilation has a straightforward operation. The airflow generated by a fan in the room sets cold and warm flows in motion, increasing the evaporation rate on the skin, which lowers the body temperature and increases the feeling of coolness.

The more volume of air being moved, the greater the feeling of freshness. The air volume varies with the size and power of the cooling fan. It is important to know that a fan, even a high-powered one, cannot considerably lower the room's temperature the way an air conditioner would. In the following table, we compare the main types of fans, outlining the airflow they can generate.

Type of Fan Airflow (m3/mn) Room size (m²) Where to place it
Desk Fan 15 m3/min 5 m²On the table
Tower Fan 100 m3/min 20 m² Bedroom, living room
Ceiling Fan 150 m3/min 30 m² Living room, bedroom, kitchen

How to choose the right Fan?

Each type of fan provides a different airflow, suitable for different environments and situations.

Klarstein Figo ceiling fan

Ceiling Fans:
They are suitable for large rooms and are often equipped with ceiling light and remote control for maximum ease and comfort. Ceiling fans provide the most pleasant and uniform airflow, caressing and delicate, not direct and therefore not harmful to health. As it expands from the top, the moving air descends downwards in a consistent manner. A ceiling fan is suitable for bigger rooms but can also be adapted to medium and small rooms when the fan is of smaller in size. Some models can reverse the airflow to prevent hot and cold air from staying only in certain areas of the ventilated environment and thus allow a healthy change of air.

Klarstein Skyscraper tower fan

Tower Fans:
They do not use a propeller to generate the airflow, as they rely on a wheel that rotates in its casing, and the expelled air may or may not be channeled. Less noisy than stand fans, oscillating tower fans consume less energy because the power required for the same air volume delivered is lower. For this reason, tower fans are ideal for rooms where silence is essential, as they are quiet. On the other hand, due to a blade-less design, the fans are not so effective when it is necessary to cool a large room.

Klarstein Summer Vibe pedestal fan

Stand Fans:
They are designed for more restrained ventilation. Usually smaller in size, stand fans can only provide cooling to well-defined and limited areas, leveraging their enhanced speed settings and oscillating function. You can easily move them, and you can choose to lock or rotate them to ventilate different areas of the same area. Stand Fans can ventilate large rooms without the need for electrical and sometimes masonry work. Obviously, the larger the fan, the larger the room you can cool with it. However, stand fans only provide ventilation from the height of the blades, which in the pole type can therefore be adjusted, to have the air at the height you prefer.

Things to consider when buying a Fan or Cooling Fan

Choosing a suitable fan is not as easy as it might seem. There are many different types you can buy on Klarstein. They differ in power, functionality, and mode of use, as well as in design. So, let's get some more information about some important characteristics that a cooling fan should have.

  • Blades
Not all models have blades. Although they are noisy and take up more space, they also make it easier to distribute the air and allow a powerful jet to reach even the hardest to reach corners. The size of the blades depends on the size of the room. The larger the room, the larger the blades should be. This way, you can spread the fresh air of the fan evenly throughout the room.

  • Fan power and consumption
Keep an eye on the capacity, e.g. the maximum power the fan can reach. The higher its value, the higher its consumption, and therefore, the higher becomes your energy bill in the end. The most powerful ones are ceiling fans, but it will not consume more than 120 watts in general.

  • Rotation speed
To ensure more air circulation, the blades must be able to turn quickly. Sometimes too much air can be disturbing. So, make sure you use a cooling fan that offers different speed options.

  • Noise
Ideally, a fan should be quiet. Models without blades or those with a night function are very silent. Thanks to the night function, the device will continue to generate fresh air without making any noise.

  • Safety
A fan or cooling fan must also be safe, especially if there are children around. The safest models are those without blades and a safety cage because there are no visible mechanisms. If you have a fan with blades, make sure that the safety grille is made of a narrow mesh to prevent small things from getting into it.

Moving air is the purpose of cooling fans and electric fans but some models also offer additional features, such as misting, humidification or ionisation. All these fans modify the air in the room and thus create a greater feeling of freshness. Depending on the mode, an air purification phenomenon is created, thus limiting the risk of asthma.

  • Nebulisation: This function allows not only air but also water under pressure to be circulated for a greater cooling effect. Fans with a nebuliser can be portable, fixed or integrate structures such as parasols.

  • Humidification: The humidifying effect allows the humidity of the ambient air to be increased like a humidifier, so that it is not too dry, which can lead to respiratory problems or asthma.

  • Ionisation: The ionisation changes the chemistry of the air by loading it with negative ions for stabilisation. For a feeling of well-being, the device must respect the balance between positive ions (cations) and negative ions (anions). In a home or work office, this rate is rarely respected and polluting factors include the release of formaldehyde, electromagnetic fields, kitchen vapours, solvents, dust, etc. which is why an ionisation is recommended.
