So far we've had one of those machines that produce relatively milky ice cream tubes. But let's be honest - nice clear ice cubes in a glass look way better, don't they? After some searching and comparing, the Klarstein Clearcube was the first choice. As always, Amazon delivered quickly and perfectly. The manufacturer packed the machine really well and securely, and even provided all stainless steel housing parts with a self-adhesive protective film - no complaints. So: unpacked the machine, wiped it with a damp cloth, left it to stand for a short time so that the coolant would settle, filled it with still mineral water and switched it on. First plus point: Very quiet in operation. The water flows over the cooled metal grid and thus builds up the ice cubes not from the outside but from the inside; roughly the same way an icicle is formed in nature, which is why they become clear. But you don't hear any splashing, the machine is really quiet. It takes about 20 minutes for the first ice cubes to be ready, but you have 24 really (second plus point and for me the heart of the matter) nice, clear ice cubes. Third plus point: Due to this production method, the cubes are not only beautifully clear, but also colder and, above all, harder than the "ice tubes" mentioned above; the drinks are not watered down so quickly. Although the cubes are all produced together "as a board", they are very easy to break apart. With the filling of 2 liters of water you get 4 "boards", i.e. 96 ice cubes, which are also produced a little faster after the first load. You have to empty the glasses so quickly... Cleaning is also child's play, after draining the residual water (screwed stopper on the back of the machine) it is enough to wipe through the container with a kitchen roll, so the fourth plus point. Since we have this machine, my wife only wants these ice cubes, the other machine (ice tubes) is only in the closet for emergencies. The Klarstein has been running every day since we've had it and meanwhile (next plus point) it has processed more than 20 liters of plain tap water into clear ice cubes without complaint - on top. If you switch on the machine and not just tap the button, but hold it down for 5 seconds, the ice cube production process is extended by a few minutes, which of course benefits the cubes because an additional layer is formed. A plus for me, of course. My conclusion: Exactly what I was looking for and it does exactly what it is supposed to do - produce nice clear ice cubes. What I should perhaps say: I'm not employed by the manufacturer or Amazon and I don't get anything for the evaluation - I just bought the machine and I'm satisfied.
